i am trying to enlarge the text size of duct and diffuser callouts. i tried the customization-text style approach with no luck. can you pls suggest another option.

The "Height" in the "Text Styles" dialog box is what you want to use:

Once you make the change, try inserting a new diffuser or duct and see if the size works correctly. If it does, you will need to run the "Coordinate Drawings and Datatabase" command to update existing text sizes.
If that doesn't work, send us a copy of the project and we can take a closer to look at it for you. Use the "DM HVAC->Help->Send Project to Design Master Support" command.
